Table of Contents
ToggleBest Warm Destinations in February
1. Vietnam (Central & South)
Average temperature: 20-25°C
Why visit in February: dry & sunny weather, lots of festivals
I spent three weeks exploring the country this year and would go back in a heartbeat. It’s easily one of my favourite countries and February is the ideal month to visit the entire country.
The centre and south will start to have the perfect beach weather, while the North reminds mild but with good weather for hiking in Sapa and the Ha Giang Loop (though layer up).
Some of my favourite activities in Vietnam:
2. Singapore
Average temperature: 24-31°C
Why visit in February: Singapore’s driest month, perfect for beach holidays and exploring
Singapore offers balmy weather year-round, and February is actually the driest month. That means it’s the perfect time to explore the city or book onto one of its Islands for a beach holiday.
February is also one of the quieter months as it falls between the peak holidays.
3. Algarve, Portugal
Average temperature: 12°C to 18°C
Why visit in February: Algarve’s mildest month with fewer crowds, perfect for outdoor activities. It’s also Carnival time!
Portugal is one of my favourite countries (I say that a lot, but I would totally move here) and February is a great month to visit. The Algarve region is still fairly warm in February, without the crowds of summer.
It’s also a good time for surfing, with the winter swells slightly reducing, ideal for intermediate surfers (though there are beginner spots too!).
4. South Africa
Average temperature: 24°C
Why visit in February: best time for a beach holiday in Cape Town and the Western Cape
The weather varies based on region, with Western Cape receiving dry summer weather (beach holiday) while the National Parks experience the occasional downpour. That means it is shoulder season for those parks though with less people visiting and its especially ideal for birding.
5. Australia
Average temperature: 26°C (NSW)
Why visit in February: hot weather and slightly less crowded beaches
February marks the middle of summer in Australia and this comes with some blazing weather in the Outback and South. However in the areas of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, you can expect the perfect beach conditions.
I think Australia is a great destination not just for the sun, but also the variety of holidays available. Whether you’re into adventure, a family getaway, solo travel or city escape, you can really have it all here.
6. Thailand
Average temperature: 22-28°C
Why visit in February: dry season, crowds start to go down from the festive period (though avoid Chinese New Year)
Thailand experiences High Season around February, as it is the ideal weather and perfect for beach holidays. That being said, outside of Chinese New Year, crowds are manageable and it is a dreamy, hot destination.
7. Morocco
Average temperature: 16-24°C
Why visit in February: less crowds, great for exploring and Sahara tours
February in Morocco brings mild temperatures that make perfect for exploring, especially in the North of the country. The South gets highs in the mid-20s, meaning you can get some quiet beach time in.
It’s also a fantastic month for desert trips, with clear skies and nice temperatures during the days. Bring layers for the nights!
8. Chile
Average temperature: 26°C (NSW)
Why visit in February: hot weather and slightly less crowded beaches
Chile is an amazing and varied country to travel, and February is actually an amazing month for it. Patagonia is at the end of summer, meaning long days and mild weather but slightly lesser crowds.
Whether you head to the beaches of Valparaiso or the wildlife and heat of the Atacama desert, Chile is the place to be in February.
