Where to Stay in Rhodes Town, Greece
Budget to Luxury

Planning a trip to live out your Mamma Mia fantasy on a Greek Island? Here is my guide to the best accommodation, from hostels to luxury hotels, in Rhodes Town. Rhodes is one of the biggest Greek Islands and you will find stunning beaches, kind locals and delicious food a plenty here.

I recently went on a last-minute escape to catch some much needed sun and ended up in Rhodes, Greece. I hadn’t done much research on the island when I went, I just knew it had nice beaches and that was enough to book my flights.

Well, after 5 days in the Greek sun, I can tell you that Rhodes is a gorgeous island. All the hotel staff have been SO lovely, the beaches are amazing and Rhodes Old Town is stunningly beautiful.

I would recommend staying a night or two in Rhodes Town itself, before or after booking a hotel by the beaches of Faliraki (not by main street if you mind noise at night) or Lindos. The Old Town of Rhodes is beautiful in its medieval glory, with cobblestone roads and historic buildings everywhere.

There are also amazing markets in this area and the highly recommended daytrip to Symi island usually leaves from Rhodes Town, so booking a night or two here is well worth it. These are the hotels and hostels I would recommend in the area:

Where to stay in Rhodes Town, Greece for any traveller:

rhodes old town accommodation -

Rhodes is one of the bigger Greek Islands, but is well connected to the main towns via bus. You could also rent a motorbike or quad to see more of the island.

That being said, I think it is worth staying 1-2 nights in Rhodes Town itself to explore the Old Town, see the former site of the Colossus of Rhodes and check out the beaches in the area.

Here are my top hostels and hotels I would recommend:

Affordable hostels in Rhodes Town

Rhodes Youth Hostel – I stayed in this hostel and loved everything about it. The staff is SO kind, the rooms clean and there is a beautiful outside sitting area.

Stay Hostel Rhodes – I had heard about this hostel before I even came to Rhodes. It’s a very social hostel right in the centre, so great for solo travellers.

Rhodes Backpackers – Also a great choice, a 10ish minute walk outside of Old Town. It has a nice bar area and events on too.

Hotels at different price points in Rhodes:

$ Elite CentreOne of the highest reviewed hotels in Rhodes Town with very fair prices and breakfast included.

$ Island Boutique Hotel – Located right by Elli Beach in the town centre, this hotel offers really nice rooms at great prices.

$$ Via Villa Iliotti – Super central hotel with a lovely owner and stunning rooms.

$$ Elaia-Fos – An insanely stunning property in Rhodes Old Town that sells out quickly for good reason.

$$$ Sperveri Boutique Hotel – This hotel has everything you could need, a stunning pool, lots of amenities and luxurious rooms, right in the centre of Rhodes Town.

$$$ Elakati Luxury Boutique Hotel – Amazing staff, beautiful rooms and an overall luxurious stay.

How to get to Rhodes?

You will likely be flying into Rhodes and arriving at Rhodes Airport (RHO). From there, I’d recommend to take the bus into town, my full guide on where to go and how to do it here

You could also get a taxi/uber from Rhodes airport to the city centre, this will likely set you back around 30€. Alternatively, there are also private shuttle services which will get you from door to door – you can book them here

If you are arriving by ferry from one of the other Greek Islands such as Kos or Crete, or even the Turkish mainland, you will likely be docking directly by Rhodes Town. Find ferry routes, times and costs on Ferry Hopper.

How many days in Rhodes Town?

I’d say you don’t need more than 1-2 days to explore Rhodes including the Old Town. I’d recommend to stay 5-7 days in total on the island and booking a hotel near the beach for the rest of the days. That could be in Rhodes town itself, though Faliraki and Lindos are great options too!
