Where to Stay in Toronto
Budget to Luxury

Canada’s largest city and hub of the East Coast, Toronto, has a lot to offer. But with such a big city it can be difficult to know where to stay and what to look out for. Here are all my favourite hostels and hotels for any price point!

Where to stay in Toronto, Canada for any traveller:

I’d recommend staying pretty central if possible, close to Downtown Toronto where most of the attractions are. Other good areas are Little Italy, Kensington Market and Queen West.

Canada is a pretty expensive country to travel and Toronto is no exception, so expect hostels to start around $40 and hotels around $100.

Affordable hostels in Toronto

  • The Planet Traveler Hostel (I stayed here and thought the rooms were good and social activities even better. They did have a dog that’s allowed everywhere, I’m not sure if it’s still there)
  • The Only Backpacker’s Inn (basic rooms at a good price for Canada)

Hotels at different price points in Toronto:

$ The Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar (basic rooms at good prices and in a central location)

$ The Clarence Park (mix of hostel and hotel with good priced private rooms)

$$ One King West Hotel & Residence  (great location, historic rooms and lovely staff)

$$ Revery Toronto Downtown (spacious, unique rooms that are super central)

$$$ Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square  (located right by the main attractions, lovely rooms)

$$$ The Hazelton Hotel Toronto (truly luxurious rooms)

Is Toronto walkable?

I found Toronto very walkable, especially compared to other areas of Canada. A lot of the sights are walking distance apart and for the rest, there is a good public transportation network.

When is the best time to visit Toronto?

I personally think there is no bad time to visit Toronto. I visited during the winter months and loved the Christmas decorations and cold beauty of the city.

Spring brings warmer temperatures, but summer is definitely the time with the nicest weather. Fall brings some beautiful changes in nature and breezes.
