Vlorë is a coastal city in Albania with some of the most incredible beaches, making it perfect for a summer holiday. Whether you are planning your Albania trip or currently in Vlorë, these are my top public and private beaches in the area!
I spent three weeks in Vlore in 2023 where I worked for accommodation with a local hotel and loved my time there. The beaches were incredible, the food delicious and cheap and the locals kind.
In 2023, Albania was just starting to hit the mainstream travel map as a budget alternative to Greece, however it is so much more than that. You will find crystal-clear water, a ton of history, insane nature and more here, making it the perfect holiday destination.
If you are currently planning your Albania trip and considering Vlore, this is your sign to go. Here are my favourite beaches in Vlore, including lots of free, public options:

ToggleHow to get to Vlorë?
The closest airport to Vlore is in Albania’s capital of Tirana. I have written a full guide on getting from Tirana Airport to Vlore by bus here, which is the most affordable option.
Alternatively you could get a taxi or rent a car. Taxi would probably be around 70-100€, whereas you can get rental cars from 25-35€ per day.

Best Beaches in Vlorë

Since becoming the newest tourist hotspot, Albania has transformed the majority of public beaches in bigger cities into private ones. My host in Vlore explained this is as there is no regulations surrounding this yet – the country is growing faster than it can keep up.
A private beach chair costs about 1000ALL (10 €) for two people and includes an umbrella. It is yours for the entire day.
I’d say if you’re only there for a few days, it is definitely worth paying for a public beach near your accommodation.
If you are there longer, I have summarised my favourite public beaches to explore below.
My favourite public, free beaches in Vlorë

Here are my personal favourite stretches of beach in Vlore where you can tan and swim without paying:
The first one is right by Pizzeri Lagom. Just opposite this restaurant are stairs, at the very left end you can go down to a public stretch of beach. The stones there are small and comfortable to lie on and the water is dreamy.
The majority of Plazhi i Ri beach is private but you can lay in the big gaps between two different private sections for free. This beach is sandy and super close to the centre.
This stretch of beach is a bit iffy to find but really beautiful once you do. It is slightly outside the centre but a ton of hotels are in this area. The public beach is kind of opposite the private one from Hotel Kristera, just a short walk further.
From Vlorë centre, you head towards Bar Restorant “Kalaja” Vlorë and keep going until you find the road shown above going off the side (walking about 3 minutes). Walk down the road and you will find another public beach.
The best private beaches in Vlorë

There are a ton of “privatised” beaches around Vlore where people will try and remove you if you don’t pay. If you have the budget, get a hotel in Vlore that has its own private beach. These will be the cleanest and least crowded.
Plazhi i Ri
This is the most central beach in Vlore and was also on our free beaches list. There are tons of private areas on this beach with sun loungers that usually cost around $5 for the day.
Naval Beach
A beautiful beach a little outside of Vlore. They have an attached restaurant and lots of sun loungers, so it is great for a beach day.
Kristera Beach
This beach is down some stairs and part of a hotel. Chairs seem to be around $10 for the day. This is the spot where you can walk right into crystal-clear, turquoise water.
Yacht Beach
This stretch of beach belongs to the Yacht Hotel which comes highly recommended for a luxury stay (chairs are free if you are staying here). The attached restaurant is amazing and the stretch of beach really nice.
Is Vlorë, Albania worth visiting?
Yes, Vlorë is definitely worth visiting. It is an amazing destination for a budget-friendly beach holiday. I would recommend heading here in the shoulder season, e.g. September, to avoid the crowds while still getting amazing weather and warm water temperatures.
Is it safe to go to Vlorë Albania?
As one of Albania’s key tourist destinations, Vlorë is very safe to visit right now. I have written a full guide on safety in Vlore here:
