Budget to Luxury

Stepping into Kraków felt like stepping back in time, to when legends came alive. Here you’ll find medieval architecture, a stunning historical centre and lots of things to explore. If you’re currently planning your trip to Kraków, here is where I would stay for any budget.

Where to stay in Krakow, Poland for any traveller:

Wawel Royal Castle krakow

Krakow centre is incredibly walkable and the Old Town is beautiful. I’d recommend staying within walking distance to it, you can use the Vistula River and Planty Park (which surrounds the Old Town) as guidelines.

Is Krakow a walkable city?

Yes, Krakow Old Town is super walkable. Many streets are even pedestrian-only or restricted traffic. The only time we didn’t walk while there was to get to/from the main station to our hotel.

Outside the Old Town, Krakow has a great tram system that can get you to e.g. the main station. From there, train go towards Wieliczka Salt Mine or Auschwitz-Birkenau.

A 20-Minute tram ticket is just 4.00zł ($1.10) or a 60-Minute Ticket (or Single Journey) is 6.00zł ($1.70).

How many days do I need in Krakow?

I’d recommend a minimum of 3 days in Krakow, more if you want to do several day trips or explore places like Wawel Castle better (it has several huge exhibitions – some are free on Mondays).
