Huacachina is a natural desert Oasis a few hours away from Lima, famous for stunning Dunes sunsets, sandboarding and great nightlife. It’s the perfect place to relax but also take part in adventure sports and evening drinks. If you’re planning to add Huacachina to your Peru itinerary, which Id highly recommend, here are the top hostels and hotels right by the Oasis.

ToggleWhere to stay in Huacachina, Peru for any traveller:
I would recommend to stay right in Huacachina by the Oasis, as that is the unique charm and beauty of this destination. The entire town isn’t that big and super walkable, and you will find restaurants, cafes and adventure sport companies around every corner. You could also stay in the nearby Ica and get a TukTuk into the Oasis (around 5-10 sol/<$3), though I’d only do this if you really can’t find a hostel/hotel in Huacachina itself.
Affordable hostels in Huacachina
- Viajero Huacachina Hostel – I stayed here and it was a good mix of social and chill, the rooms are nice and the staff very friendly
- Wild Rover Huacachina – a very popular hostel but it is THE party hostel where everyone from other hostels went when I was in Huacachina so make sure that is your vibe
Hotels and other accommodation in Huacachina:
It’s important to note that, as with most of Peru, even the most expensive option (exception is the last one) is still less than $100 per night for 2 people.
$ Huacachina Desert House – Affordable rooms a short walk away from the Oasis
$$ Ecocamp Huacachina – here you get to sleep in fancy tents right at the edge of the dunes, a very cool experience for a great price
$$ La Estancia Hotel Ica – located a 15-minute walk from the Oasis, this hotel offers lovely rooms and a great swimming pool
$$$ Senoma Hotel – luxury rooms with great facilities, adults only
$$$$ Duna Camp Huacachina, Ica – If you want THE most unique and most adventurous stay of your life, this camp is amazing. It is on the pricy side, but the stay includes glamping, sandboarding and food.
How to get to Huacachina?
You can either get the bus from Lima or Cusco to Ica, the city right by the Oasis. Buses from Lima take around 5 hours, check out my full Peru bus guide here.
From Ica, you could take a taxi or the more local and affordable option – a TukTuk. They will bring you to Huacachina for 5-10 sol and it’s a fun experience. I would recommend not taking the first TukTuk driver that shouts at you when stepping out the bus station, but instead asking one along the road outside the station for a better price.
How many days do you need in Huacachina?
I’d recommend staying at least 2 nights, unless you are arriving super early the first day. Almost all tours start around 3pm and include the sunset, so by staying 2 nights you ensure that you can do the tour without any rush.
I also found Huacachina surprisingly relaxing and a nice break from the fast-paced travel that had been Cusco and Machu Picchu.
