Where to Stay in Prague, Czechia?
Budget to Luxury

I know I rave about a lot of European cities, but Prague is genuinely one of the most beautiful and impressive ones. From the cobblestone streets full of history, to the beautiful riverside and majestic castle, this city doesn’t miss. But where should you stay to make the most of your time in Prague? This is the guide for you:

Where to stay in Prague:

There are many areas of Prague, the Old Town in the centre being the busiest and most touristy, but also closes to all the sights. Ideally. I’d say you want to be within walking distance to the Astronomical Clock Tower, as that is where most monuments, restaurants and nightlife can be found.

Otherwise, anywhere nearby a metro station is a great location, though be aware that they don’t run at night.

I personally found that anything between Prague’s Main Train Station and the river is walkable and easy to get around in.

Across the river, you’ll find Malá Strana. It’s a beautiful area that is close to the castle and feels a little quieter at night.

Affordable Hostels in Prague:

  • White Wolf House Hostel – amazing location right by the main square, female and mixed dorms, great overall

  • Women’s Only Hostel – I’m a solo, female traveller, so I might be biased but this is a great hostel, central with some beautifully designed rooms.
  • Luma Terra Prague – a little further out but still only 20min walk to the central square, really lovely overall!

Best Hotels in Ljubljana for Every Budget:

$ The Cloud One Prague
– walking distance to centre, nice rooms, has some good deals

$ Belvedere Hotel Prague – budget-friendly, close to tram, basic

$$ Old Royal Post Boutique Hotel & Premium Suites – close to the castle, THE most beautiful rooms and hotel overall

$$ The Gold Bank – smaller but lovely rooms, great breakfast, good location

$$$ Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa – if you want to feel like royalty and stay in THE most luxurious rooms, this is the one for you

$$$ Fairmont Golden Prague – more modern luxury in a heritage building right in Old Town, and of course a Spa

How many days do you need in Prague?

I would recommend a minimum of 3 days in Prague if you want to even start to see all the highlights. 3-5 days is the sweet spot I would say

You can also fit a lot in 2 days if absolutely necessary, but the longer the better in Prague.

What’s the best month to visit Prague?

I might be biased, but I LOVE the shoulder season in Prague, especially fall. The city has a very distinctive charm in the colder weather and moodier nights, and the viewpoints from the castle are amazing when the leaves turn orange. So my personal favourite is September to November.

Summer brings the peak tourist crowds and winter can be pretty chilly, though gorgeous with the Christmas Markets.

Spring is another great time to visit, before the city gets overrun and when you can already start to sit in the beergardens.
